Teresa Angelina Gizzarelli Rossi

Teresa Angelina Gizzarelli Rossi, 90, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2021, surrounded by her family, after a long illness.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island on October 6, 1931, she was the daughter of Bernardino and Elena (De Nuccio) Gizzarelli.  She graduated from Central High School in Providence in 1949.  On June 19, 1954, she married Achille Rossi.  She attended Johnson and Wales University and Indiana University-Purdue University.

A resident of Indianapolis since 1959, she was an executive secretary for Indianapolis Public Schools from 1970 until she retired in 1999, serving as secretary for Strategic Planning, Special Education Instructional Support Services, and ISTEP.

She is survived by her son Albert (wife Antonia) of Aurora, IL; her daughter Cecile Ellington (husband Todd) of Fishers, IN; grandson Andrew Ellington (wife Heather) of Madison, WI, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Lisa Rossi; her parents; her brother Carmuele Gizzarelli (wife Solange); sister Severina Troiano (husband Marco); sister Bernice Martino (husband Carlo); and sister Camille Rainone (husband Freddie), all of Rhode Island.

She will be remembered for her strong faith, her kind, selfless and loving heart, her devotion to family and her grace and dignity in the face of continuous ill health.

A Memorial Gathering will be held Sunday, December 19 from 2 to 4 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St, Indianapolis.

A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, December 20 at 10 AM in Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 7243 E. 10th St, Indianapolis.

She will be laid to rest with her family at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Providence, Rhode Island.
