Sylvia "Kay" Huffman

Sylvia “Kay” Huffman, Grandma Kay, the grandma to everyone, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 27, 2019 surrounded by her daughters, son-in-law, and oldest granddaughter. She was 80 years old. Kay was born in Assumption Illinois to Joseph F. Hill and Margaret E. Cunningham Hill on May 17, 1938. She was the Valedictorian of her senior class at Taylorville Senior High School. She graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelors in Education and was a member of Theta Upsilon Sorority. She was a proud Army wife of Ltc. William “Bill “Huffman. She was a lover of learning and taught for many years. Her passing leaves a space in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to meet her; she was truly one of a kind.

She is survived by her two daughters, Tracy (Darren) Seaton and Kelly (Dave Marshall) Brawner; grandchildren TJ (Aimee) Bates, Sami (Cory) Browning, Elysse Seaton, Amanda Brawner, and Wil Seaton;  great-grandchildren Mason, Ryan, Ella, Elizabeth and Melody. She is preceded in death by husband William (Bill) Huffman; father, Joseph F Hill; mother, Margaret Cunningham Hill; brother, Jody Hill; and grandson, Trent Bates. 

Family and friends are invited to visit Saturday, May 4, 2019 from 11-1 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Decatur Township, 5463 Kentucky Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46221. Funeral services will take place at 1 PM. Kay will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery immediately following services.
