Sylvia "Gertie" Browning

Sylvia “Gertie” Browning, 90, Fishers, passed away December 13, 2022. She was born in Sligo, KY to William Howard and Martha Callis Browning on March 12, 1932. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, and her loving and devoted husband of 68 years, Joseph T. Browning.

Gertie was born in Sligo, Kentucky where she lived until her marriage to Joe after which they moved to Indianapolis. After living in the same home in west side Indianapolis for 56 years, they moved to NC in 2012 for 6 years to be near Jackie and her family and to get away from snow. They ultimately returned to Indiana to live out the remainder of their lives. Her favorite joys in life were her kids, her grand and great-grand babies, her dogs and her love of camping.

Gertie is survived by her children Jackie Odom (Jeff) of Garner, NC and Mike Browning (Patty) of Fishers, IN. She adored and cherished her 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, Chris Browning and daughter Charlie; Allan Bright; Jessica Wall (Lacy); Renee Sondhe (Jai) and children Ronan, Brody, Simran, and Jaibir; Jeri Roccaro (Anthony) and daughters Kori, Alexandra, and Emma; Daniel (Raven) Bright and daughters Cheyenne, McKinley, Kayleigh, and Brooklynn; Joel Odom (Sydney) and son Hank; and Ryan Browning. Her eyes would light up when any of the grand and great grandkids entered the room.

A visitation will be held Tuesday December 20th from 11am to 12pm at Flanner Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite), 9700 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis. Funeral services will begin there at 12pm. Online condolences may be shared at www.flannerbuchanan.com.
