Bedford, Indiana

Sept 8, 1926 – Aug 24th, 2021 – Sylvia Belle (Dodrill) Macy, formerly from Logansport, passed away suddenly at her home in Bedford, Indiana on August 24th. She was the daughter of Lavoyda and Anna Fay (Staley) Dodrill and was one of eleven children.  She married the love of her life William C. Macy, of Broad Ripple, on May 31st, 1948 and shared 56 years together, having 3 children.

Although Sylvia enjoyed working puzzles and watching her Pacers basketball, her life’s favorite pastime was spent living an adventurous life with friends and family through travel, and even participating in activities such as riding ATV’s and boating into her 90’s.

She is pre-deceased by her husband William C. Macy and her daughter Catherine (Macy) May, which she will rejoice with once again as well as her parents, and ten siblings.

She is survived by her two sons, William “Bill” J. Macy and wife Judy, Bedford IN, and Edwin L. Macy and wife Veronica, Munising, MI; son-in-law, Rick May; 9 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends who will greatly miss her.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at Flanner Buchanan – Hamilton Memorial Park, 4180 Westfield Road, Westfield, Indiana.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the cancer organization of the donor’s choice in memory of Sylvia’s beloved daughter, Catherine.  Online condolences may be shared by visiting flannerbuchanan.com.
