Sydney J. Pontius

Sydney J. Pontius, 86 of Carmel, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021. Sydney was born April 18, 1934 in Indianapolis to the late Malcolm and Mildred Baker. She was a 1952 graduate of Broad Ripple High School. For several years she was the main cook in the Carmel High School cafeteria.

Since 1963 she has been active in the Hamilton County Extension Homemakers, holding all county offices. Sydney served on many committees and completed all offices to become State President of the Indiana Extension Homemakers Association 1996-97. She had the honor to represent the 25,000 members of the IEHA in the 1998 world conference in South Africa.

Family and friends are invited to gather from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm Friday, March 12 at Flanner Buchanan-Carmel, where the funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm.

Sydney is survived by her husband of nearly 68 years, Ted; son, Gary and his wife, Gail.
