Syble C. Adams

December 12, 1929 — November 27, 2021

Indianapolis, IN

Syble C. Adams (Johnson), 91, of Indianapolis passed away on November 27, 2021. Syble was born in Athens, Alabama on December 12, 1929 to the late William and Laura Johnson. Syble was a beautiful woman inside and out. It was simple—to know her was to love her. She was a member for 15 years at Lighthouse Baptist Church. She was a member of a singing group, “The Gospel Four”, along with some of her closest church friends. They traveled around Indiana to share their talent. Syble loved watching her game shows, especially Family Feud.  Most importantly, Syble loved her family. She never turned down an opportunity to watch her grandkids who affectionately referred to her as “Mamaw” or “Grandma Adams”. She will be missed deeply by all the lives she has touched.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Bill (Martina) Adams, Roger (Carol) Adams, Sylvia (Mike) Smith, and David Adams; her siblings, Clinton Johnson, Geneva “Butch” Pettus, and Paulette Fletcher; her grandchildren, Shannon Lunsford, Brooke Johnson, Brittany Selvia, Brandon Adams, Gregory Smith, and Jeremy Smith; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Syble is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 65 years, Preston Adams; and her siblings, Harvey Johnson, Joe Johnson, and Jean Casteel.

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021 from 4PM-8PM at Flanner Buchanan—Washington Park East, 10722 E Washington St. A funeral service will be held the following day at 1:30PM. Syble will be laid to rest next to her late husband in Washington Park East Cemetery.
