Suzanne King

June 5, 1940 — July 25, 2016

Suzanne King, 76, of Indianapolis departed this life to join her Heavenly Father on July 25, 2016. She was a beloved Mother and Grandmother, a great friend to many, and a faithful servant of God. Suzanne is survived by her daughters and family including Suzy and Mark, Caroline and Kirk, Lindsey, Emily, Logan, Kaitlin, Peri and Layne.

She was the daughter of Melba and Joe Wager born June 5, 1940 in Park Forest, Illinois. They preceded her in death. Suzanne is survived by her brothers, Joseph and his wife, Geraldine, and Charles F. Wager both of Arizona.

Suzanne graduated in 1958 and attended Eastern Illinois University. As a young adult, Suzanne lived in California—where Elvis Presley sang her Happy Birthday at a traffic light—, Pennsylvania, and ultimately settled in Indianapolis with her husband, Ken Corbett.

Suzanne enjoyed returning home to Pennsylvania to spend time with her parents and our dear Uncle Stanley F. Stone as frequently as possible.

In 1993, Suzanne married Don King and they set out to enjoy life to the fullest. She is also survived by her King family including, Chris, Collin and Olivia, Melissa Darrin, Julia and Caleb, Jon, Brook and Robin.

She and Don enjoyed attending church, socializing with friends, boating, camping at the lake and road trips. The light of her Suzanne’s life was her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed being with them at school and sporting events, concerts, movies, parks, aquariums and shopping to name a few. You could always count on an ice cream treat with Grandma.

She loved the Indianapolis Colts, the Indy 500 and socializing with treasured friends and new acquaintances.

Suzanne had worked as an executive administrative assistant and ultimately retired from Methodist Hospital. She and Don took a dream vacation to Hawaii to celebrate retirement.

She had the gift of many loving cousins, nieces and nephews and friends. She is also survived by many extended family members and their families including Ed and Rex Wager, Neil and Kirsten Wager, Darin, Wyatt and Madilyn Killey, Tyler and Garrett Swegman.

Suzanne was a longtime active member of Southeastern Christian Fellowship Church. She very much enjoyed her faith journey and participating in many community and missions work.

Many thanks to the compassionate medical and care providers that blessed Suzanne and her family throughout their journey with Alzheimer’s, while at University Heights Health & Living and in the hospice care of Gentiva/Kindred.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Southeastern Christian Fellowship, 4751 E. Minnesota Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46203 or the Alzheimer’s Association.

God saw she was getting tired when a cure was not to be, so He wrapped his arms around her and gave her rest. She may be gone, yet not forgotten, because although we are apart, her spirit will live within us forever in our hearts. Rest in Peace until we meet again.
