Susan Crisler Morton, 90, of Carmel, Indiana died peacefully October 13, 2024, with her family by her side. Susan was born May 1,1934 in Marion, Indiana. She graduated from Marion High School and then attended Indiana University where she was an active member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She graduated from IU with a bachelor’s degree in education and soon after married Arthur E, Herring. Together they were married for twenty-four years and had three daughters. She is survived by her daughters Cathy, Mary Beth (Don), and Amy; During their marriage she resided in Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, PA, Erie, PA and Williamsville, NY. While raising her family she was involved in Girl Scouts, PEO (Philanthropic Education Organization), Kappa Alpha Theta, and enjoyed playing bridge, progressive dinners and attending Presbyterian church services.
In 1981, Susan relocated to Indianapolis where she worked for RCI and Kappa Alpha Theta Headquarters. Through mutual friends she was introduced to Frank E. Morton, of Carmel Indiana and they were married on April 12, 1985, at Second Presbyterian Church where Susan was a long-time member. During their wonderful forty-year marriage they enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveled to several countries and spent winters in Florida. Susan was a forty-year member of St. Margaret’s guild where she and Frank had many mutual friends.
Susan was proceeded in death by her parents, Donald and Jeannette Crisler, sisters Shirley Williams and Donna Forbes and brother Don “Fritz” Crisler.
In addition to her three daughters, she is survived by Frank’s children Vicki (Tom), Linda (John) and Frank Jr. (Dori).
She is also survived by her eleven grandchildren: Jenna (Jeremy), Christoper, Kiley (Alex), Mitch (Suzanne), Alec, Lauren (Kyle), Emily (Jake), Samantha (Jeton), Frances (Phil), Hayden (Angela) and Brennan. Susan is also survived by ten great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the Barrington of Carmel, Windsor Hall, 1335 S. Guilford Rd., Carmel, IN 46032. Internment of her ashes by the family will occur at a later date.
