Susan Lee Kunze, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, went home on January 13th 2021. She was 74.
Susan was born to Doris and Matthew Shaw in 1946. After graduating from Pike High School in 1964, she pursued her dreams of becoming a Registered Nurse, graduating from Evansville College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 1968. After graduation she met her husband, Keith Kunze, they were married in 1971 and together had two children: Karin and Joshua.
She leaves behind her husband of 50 years; her two children and their spouses: Sam and Jessica; her grandchildren: Xavier, Sebastian, Jacob and Mylah; her brother, Mark; her sister, Eleanor; and her cousin, Denny; as well as many beloved friends.
Susan loved spending time in the kitchen and cooking for holiday gatherings, when not in the kitchen you could find her reading, traveling, spending time with family and friends or helping at her church, Salem Lutheran, where she was part of the founding family lineage and a lifetime member.
She was proud to have spent her nursing career working for St. Vincent’s hospital, with the bulk of her time spent as a Visiting Nurse. Her patients were very special, she would often visit on holidays, bringing them homemade cookies and love. She retired in 2006 and gave that extra time and love to her family and grandchildren, which we are eternally grateful. She was loved beyond what words can express.
Due to COVID 19 and the current pandemic restrictions, the funeral service will be private/family only, but a public viewing is scheduled for 5-7pm on Wednesday, January 27, at Flanner Buchanan Zionsville. Please send an RSVP to both [email protected] and [email protected] if you plan to attend the visitation.
