Susan E. Hayes

Susan Hayes, 74, of Lebanon, passed away February 21^st, 2022. She was born September 4^th, 1947, in Indianapolis, to parents Everett and Kathryn (Elrod) Bunce.

Susan grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from Arsenal Tech high school. She continued her education at Indiana Business College.

On October 11th, 1966, in Jacksonville, North Carolina, Susan married the love of her life, Theodore “Pat” Hayes. They shared 55 wonderful years of marriage. Pat passed away June 11^th, 2021.

Susan was a devoted member of the Eastern Star, Morristown Chapter 316.

Susan was a strong, loving woman. In her younger years, she was proudly, fearlessly the first woman in Indiana to participate in BMX races. She enjoyed being in nature and camping. Susan was also very involved in the local Girl Scout troops and served as Rainbow Girl for many years. Above all, she was an adoring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children Wendy Gough and Tim (Jill) Hayes; grandchildren Hope (Tony), Andrew (Nicki), Savannah, Madison, Reagan, and Luke; great-grandchildren Patrick and Theodore “Teddy”.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Pat.

Susan’s visitation will be Wednesday March 2^nd, from 11-2pm at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East. Her funeral will begin at 2pm. She will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
