Sue Conarroe of Indianapolis, age 82, was called peacefully into God’s more immediate Presence on Sunday, July 1, 2018. She is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Joe; her daughter Sarah Milesi of Indianapolis; her daughter Rhonda Reed of Louisiana; her son Ben Conarroe of Vista, California; granddaughters Valentine Baker and her husband Chauncey and Ransome Brown of Indianapolis; granddaughter Shree Sue (and her children) and grandson Mark Best; Sister Nancy Hull of Carmel, Indiana; Sister Jean Friesz of Texas; Brother Kurt Higgins and his wife Nancy of Florida; and Sister-in-Law Linda Higgins of Lebanon, Indiana; Cousin and Best Friend Jeanine Newport and her husband Louis of Indianapolis; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews spread from California to Colorado to Texas to Florida to Tennessee to Illinois and Indiana (and probably other places in between). She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Mary Higgins, her two brothers Richard Higgins, Jr., and Steve Higgins; her brother-in-law Eugene Hull, a half-brother and half-sister, and her infant daughter Belinda. Sue was born and raised in Lebanon, Indiana and graduated from Pennell High School in 1953. She married Joe on October 24, 1954 in Jonesboro, Indiana and joined him at his station in the United States Army near San Francisco, California. They returned to the Midwest to attend Bible college in Lincoln, Illinois in 1955. Joe was ordained a Christian minister at Traders Point Christian Church in Indianapolis in 1958. Together, they served churches in Rutland, Illinois; Burnettsville, Indiana; Elizaville, Indiana; Indianapolis, Indiana; Cambridge City, Indiana; Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Worthington, Indiana. Sue’s joy in ministry was teaching nursery-school-age children about the Lord Jesus Christ and helping them learn how to worship him. She started her own weekday preschools in Cambridge City, Bowling Green, and Worthington. The last years of her career were spent at School 34 in the Indianapolis Public Schools; she retired in 2000. Sue and Joe moved to Crestwood Village Retirement Community in July of 2014. There, Sue was part of the monthly book club. They are members of Chapel Rock Christian Church. Sue was an avid fan of Indiana University basketball, and looked forward to football season every year mainly because it meant basketball season was just around the corner. The last ten years of Sue’s life were saturated with medical difficulties. Her family rejoices with her in the release from her pain and in the sure and certain hope of the resurrection.
