Steven T. Crouch, 57 of Carmel, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2024 after a courageous fight with cancer. Steven was born October 3, 1966 in Muncie, IN to Larry and Doreen Crouch.
Steven was a Facilities Manager for the CPA and advisory firm Katz, Sapper & Miller. He started his career with KSM on February 24, 1992 in the Production department. Through his strong work ethic and leadership skills he soon advanced to a management role in Production and later as an Operations Leader. In his 32 year career, it was his role as Facilities Manager he found to be most rewarding. As the face of the company for the numerous KSM vendors, building relationships with those vendors was important to him and he represented the firm well. His dedication to KSM was endless – he was responsible for several office relocations including offices in Fort Wayne, IN and New York City, NY, as well as designing build out of new spaces. He also played a key role in establishing KSM’s first ever office in Evansville, IN. On a more personal level, Steven was a touchstone for KSM, whether you were an intern just starting or someone who had been there for years, chances are Steven was your first friend at KSM. He cared deeply about the firm and everyone who walked through its doors. Steven was involved with KSM's partnership with Providence Cristo Rey which provides professional work experience to low-income students and he was proud to help mentor the students. He was well respected and much loved by his coworkers.
Steven attended Daleville high school graduating in 1985, where he played baseball.
Steven enjoyed a variety of sports, but mostly played golf and softball. For several years he organized, played and coached the KSM co-ed and men’s softball teams and he played until he was 56. He really enjoyed playing golf with family and friends at a variety of courses from Carmel to Portland. Having taken over forty trips, Steven’s favorite place for vacation was Las Vegas. While he would gamble, it was attending a Vegas Golden Knights hockey game or a Colts/Raiders game where he had the most fun. Steven was a talented poker player, but the games that meant the most to him didn’t involve money, they were the annual Christmas night poker game with his nieces and nephews.
Steven was passionate about the Cincinnati Reds and compassionate when it came to dogs. He grew up a Reds fan and attended several games with his family and over the last several years he enjoyed watching nearly every game on TV. Steven loved having dogs around and strongly believed in adopting from an animal shelter or rescue and most recently adopted two senior dogs that were bonded. Steven’s faith was also important to him and he attended Venture Christian Church in Carmel.
Steven is survived by his wife of 31 years, Deena; mother, Doreen Crouch; mother-in-law, Lois Hitchens; siblings, Janda Combs (Craig McCoy) and Gregory Crouch; nieces and nephews, Travis (Kyleigh) Smith, Breanne (Ryan) Lykins, Morgan (Quentin) Sloboda, Madalyn (Corey) Bandura and Devon (Madison) Crouch and several great nieces and nephews.
