Steven M. Cole

Indianapolis, Indiana – Steven M. Cole, 83, passed away peacefully after being comforted by family and friends on January 28, 2025.

Steven was born in Pineville, Kentucky, to parents Lawrence Regulus & Christine Anna Cole on March 13, 1941. He attended Shortridge High School in Indianapolis, and after graduating, immediately went to work. He retired from Eli Lily as a project manager in the late 1990's. Steven was known for his dedication to work and never missed a single day. He even designed and helped build his own home, a 49-month process that he oversaw every step of.

Steven married the love of his life Carolyn in 1961 after meeting her at an NAACP youth fundraiser. Together they celebrated 62 years of marriage last year. They raised three sons, Kevin, Darren, and Anthony.

When Steven could break away from work, he loved fishing. He would take trips to Michigan, back home to Kentucky, and a few memorable trips to the ocean for deep sea fishing. He also loved to spend time working on his home and in his garden. 

Steven loved the Lord and read the Bible faithfully. He owned several and enjoyed highlighting his favorite scriptures and making notes. 

In addition to his parents, Steven is preceded in death by his brothers, Lawrence Cole, George Cole and sister Rosa Cole.

He is survived by his beloved Carolyn (Robinson) Cole, sons Kevin, Darren, and Anthony; Grandkids Brandon Cole, Amber Cole, Bryson Cole, Kevin Cole, Cameron Cole, Xavier Cole, Uriah Cole, Isaac Cole and Aidan Cole and 8 great grandchildren; Siblings Clara Cole, Mark Cole and numerous nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 12 pm – 1 pm with funeral services taking place at 1 pm. Entombment will be private.
