Stephen “Tim” Callahan, 78, of Indianapolis, passed away on February 16th, 2020. He was born December 13th, 1941, to The Late Edward O. and Doris B. (Cohee) Callahan.
Tim had attended Lawrence and Warren high schools, eventually earning his GED. He married his high school sweetheart on September 30th, 1960. They lived in Lawrence, Indiana, where they raised their three sons. Tim worked at the Water Treatment Plant on Fort Harrison for 30 years, retiring in 1994. He served as a Reserve Officer on the Lawrence Police Department. Tim enjoyed all things with wheels. He raced go-Karts and enjoyed his Austen Healey, in the 60’s and 70’s. His prized possession was his convertible Corvette. Tim enjoyed vacationing at the family cabin in Michigan where he enjoyed riding snowmobiles, ATV’s, jet ski’s and the pontoon boat.
Tim is preceded in death by is beloved wife, Janet; his parents Doris and Ed; two sisters Ginny and Joann; and a brother Dave. He is survived by his three sons, William Scott (Norma), Richard Tim (Annette), Charles Wendell (Julie); eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a furry companion, Annie. He is also survived by sister Nancy Schulz and brother Mike Callahan.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 19th, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Flanner Buchanan- Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 20th, at 11am, following a brief visitation beginning at 10am at Lawrence United Methodist Church- 5200 Shadeland Ave, Indianapolis.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to the Lawrence United Methodist Church, or to your favorite charity in Tim’s honor.
