Stephen “Reno” Edward Whitaker

62, of Indianapolis, passed away on March 8, 2017. Stephen was born on May 5, 1954 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Edward Whitaker and Helen (Hinkle) Harris. Stephen is survived by his wife Patty (Johnson) Whitaker, whom he married on December 1, 1990. He always said he married to his best friend, the love of his life. He is also survived by his two children Tammy Whitaker, Stephen Whitaker, three granddaughters Stevi, Jasie, Jolee, one great grandson Hunter Wayne, brothers Gary Whitaker, Lewis (Jean) Harris, sisters Melody (Brandy) Harris, Mary Lou Harris all of Somerset, KY as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews in Indiana and Kentucky. Stephen recently retired as a machinist for Link Belt/ Rexnord and was a member of USW Local 1999. Stephen loved his wife, children, grandchildren and family very much! His favorite times in life were family get togethers. He is loved and will be greatly missed by all! In addition to his parents, Stephen was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Julia and Roscoe Hinkle, his paternal grandparents Flonnie and Edgar Whitaker, his sister and brother in law Barbara (Larry) Maxwell and a brother Michael Whitaker. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4-8pm at Flanner and Buchanan- Floral Park, with services Monday at 1:00pm in the funeral center. Burial will follow the services in Floral Park Cemetery.
