Stephen R. Lewis, 78, of Westfield, passed away at his home on Friday, February 28, 2025, surrounded by his family. Steve was born January 29, 1947, in Oakland, CA to the late Clifford and Ann Lewis.
He grew up in Speedway, Indiana, graduating from Speedway High School in 1965. He was a graduate of Indiana University and served as a first lieutenant training officer in the U.S. Army. Following his service, he attended Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis. He practiced law for more than 45 years, serving as a champion for clients all over the state.
Steve was known for his fantastic wit and sense of humor, as well as his big laugh. He will be remembered for his love of mystery novels, jazz, movies and golf. His favorite place in the world was Naples, Florida.
A private ceremony and interment will be held for family at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. A celebration of Steve’s life will be held on Monday, March 10 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Flanner Buchanan-Carmel, 325 E. Carmel Drive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Richard Hall.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Pamela, his daughters Katherine (David) Albers and Stephanie (Kevin) Thompson, his beloved grandchildren Thomas and Evelyn Albers, his brother Ron (Rita) Hall, many nieces and nephews and lifelong friends who will carry his memory forward.
He is missed already. While his loss is incalculable, his memory is a blessing now and always. : In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Glioblastoma Foundation or the IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center to the Joanne I. Carey Glioblastoma Research Fund.
