Stacey Jo Summers Campbell Kiernan

February 20, 1958 — January 3, 2025

Stacey Jo Summers Campbell Kiernan, born February 20th, 1958, passed away in the late morning of January 3rd, 2025. She is preceded by her late husband, David Kiernan.

Whomever said you can die of a broken heart was not lying. Not even a few weeks after his death in late January 2023, she took ill. They were together 46 years. Neither one ever would know what to do without the other. We would like to think they’re sitting in the corner of a bar somewhere making fun of all of us for mourning them.

Stacey was an avid reader, a lover of music and movies and TV. She loved escapism. She hated reality TV because she always claimed, “reality is real enough.” She loved award shows and theater. She loved every single cop, hospital, or firefighter show known to man much to the chagrin of her family at times.

She was a woman of many interests and trades. She always had a way of diving into new things cluelessly and coming out ahead. She was witty, crafty, and extremely strong. Her children would like to think they inherited that from her.

She was an active feminist and a very proud democrat. She always did what she could to stand up for the disenfranchised and she inspired the same in others. She loved working with Carmel Rotary and the Carmel Library Guild later in life because she would always champion their causes. She was often blunt and to the point but you could never really disagree with a true statement.

She was a lover of animals and regretfully leaves behind her treasured dog, Teddy B, and the cat she stole from her son, Bowie. We have faith that she’ll meet all of the others wherever she is.

She leaves behind her legacy with her daughter, Courtney Kiernan, her son, Devin Kiernan, her granddaughters, Cassaundra Kiernan Wanner (Josh Wanner) and Samantha Kiernan. As well as her treasured great-granddaughter Eleanor Kiernan Wanner. Along with her mother, Peggy Myers (Jack); brothers, John Summers (Jeannie) and Barry Summers (Angela); numerous nieces and nephews

A service will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel at 1PM, Thursday the 9th of January. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to IndyCLAW.org.
