Shirley May Hammer

Shirley May Hammer 85, of Indianapolis, passed away August 15, 2017. She was born on April 8 1932 in Indianapolis as the daughter of Gerald and Lucy Leamon. She retired from Indiana National Bank in 1992 after working there for 30 years. Shirley was a very family oriented woman. She loved attending sporting events in Beach grove with her husband.

Shirley is survived by her children, Carol Sue Smith (Phillip), Sherry Montgomery (John), Stephen Alan Hammer (Pam), and Janet Kaye Hammer (James Smith); grandchildren, Jason Hammer, Bradley Smith, and Shelly Smith; 2 great-grandchildren; and sister Judy Gregory. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Kenneth P Hammer, of 50 years.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 11am to 1pm at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East. Funeral service will immediately follow at 1pm, also at the funeral center.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made out to the American Diabetes Association.
