Shirley Jean (Loucks) Nason

INDIANAPOLIS -- Shirley Jean Loucks Nason died August 1, 2024, at Traditions at Brookside Memory Care, McCordsville, surrounded by loving family and staff. She was 96 years old.

Shirley was born October 6, 1927, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Frank Kenneth Loucks and Wilda Clarice Shannon Loucks. She attended Shortridge High School, graduating in 1945, then headed to Butler University where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in 1949 and a Master’s Degree in 1965. She was a proud member of Pi Beta Phi sorority.

She taught third grade at IPS #59 for three years and then served as a substitute teacher for several years. Shirley was a member of the Indianapolis Yacht Club, Geist Christian Church, Pi Beta Phi Alumnae Association and the Indiana Council on World Affairs. Throughout her lifetime, she enjoyed golf, bowling and bridge, and loved boating, reading, traveling and dabbling in the stock market. She tried to never miss a Butler basketball game.

Shirley is survived by her daughter Julie Ann Nason Vincent (David Vincent). She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, William E. Nason, and her only grandchild, Gavin Eric Vincent, both of whom died in 2021.

The family would like to thank the incredible staff at Traditions at Brookside Memory Care in McCordsville, along with Paradigm Health/Hospice, for their dedicated care, love and support.

Private graveside services were held at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis.
