Shirley Carol Jean Landers

Shirley Carol Jean Landers, 84, of Indianapolis, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2019.

She was born on September 27, 1935 in Camp, Arkansas and graduated from Salem High School in 1955.  Shirley moved to Indianapolis and worked for several years in the finance department for Sears. She retired in 1998 from Associate Loans. Shirley was a longtime attendee of Lawrence United Methodist Church. She was a generous, kind-hearted woman who devoted time to local mission work, prison ministries, elderly care and buying gifts for children at Christmas time. Shirley was an independent woman, who was a friend to everyone.

She is survived by her children, Darlene (Kevin) Okey and Jeffrey Landers; grandchildren, Iyanna, Michael, Jason Sr., Shawna, Danielle, Kevin II; great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Jason Jr., Alexa, Lauren, Madison, Devin, Gabriel; great-great grandchildren, Hayden Jo and Jason III. Shirley is also survived by her siblings, Myrna Newton, Darrell Johnson, Diane Rogers and Mack Johnson. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lois Adams; father, Fred Johnson; daughter, Sheree Denton; and siblings, Carol Ainsworth and Steve Johnson.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 18, 2019 from 4-5pm at Flanner Buchanan – Memorial Park, with funeral services immediately following.
