Shirley C. Humble

Shirley Humble, 76, of Plainfield, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2020. She was born on February 13, 1944, in Holland, Kentucky. She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Robert J. (Bob) Humble. She is also survived by her daughters Annette (Tim) Vance, Teresa (Amanda) Duncan, stepson Richard (Carla) Humble, grandsons Christopher and Nicholas Horrigan, and Daniel (Rebecca) Humble, Ryan, Jassica and Hana Humble, Matt and Derek Vance and Amber Bartram, and great grandchildren Scarlett Horrigan Maliky Humble. She is also survived by her sister Jo Linda (Donnie) Kirby. She was preceded in death by her parents Jimmy D.  and Essie May Farley, sisters Rebecca Joyce Farley and Willa Dean McCombs and her brother Larry Wayne Farley.

Shirley enjoyed playing cards and having lunch with her friends. Over the years, she loved to travel, especially on cruises. Shirley also enjoyed participating in water aerobics to stay fit. She was a member of the Theta Alpha Lambda sorority.

She worked for Lewis Engineering for 8 years and served as an administrative assistant at Rolls-Royce for 22 years, retiring on March 31, 2008. Recently she worked part-time for the Triangle Fraternity Headquarters in Plainfield.

Shirley was a member of Chapelwood Baptist Church where she served as treasurer, assistant treasurer, and many other areas of service.

The family would like to thank Shirley’s long-time friends Michael and Risë Colwell and sister-in-law Lucy Duncan for all of their help and support during this time.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11 at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Home in Speedway.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the funeral home.  Memorial donations may be made to Chapelwood Baptist Church (chapelwoodindy.org) or the Ronald McDonald House (rmhccin.org) in lieu of flowers.
