Shirley K. Bilby

Shirley K. Bilby, 75, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on December 13, 2024. She was born in Indianapolis on July 29, 1949, to Joe and Phyllis Gatliff. Shirley married the love of her life, Carl Bilby, on June 17, 1978. She proudly embraced her role of stepmother to Michele, Danielle, and David. 

Shirley graduated from Arlington High School and Indiana Central University. She worked at RCA/Bertelsmann Music Group for 37 years before retiring in 2004 as a computer programmer. 

Shirley and Carl took full advantage of the extra time retirement gave them. More time was available for their travels, motorcycle rides, hosting family get-togethers, and seeing friends and family. Kindhearted, fun-loving, and a little goofy, Shirley was always a smiling face at gatherings.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Carl; daughters, Michele (Tracy) Bacon and Danielle Reddington; brother, Joseph (Toni) Gatliff; sisters, Wilma Bordenkecher and Carol (Michael) Sipes; sister-in-law, Brenda (Donald) Gatliff; along with eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her son, David Bilby; parents, Joe and Phyllis Gatliff; and her brother, Donald Gatliff.

Visitation for Shirley will be from 9:30a-11:30am on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Flanner Buchanan – Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite) – 9700 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46250, with a funeral service immediately following at 11:30am. Burial will take place at Crown View Cemetery– 4056 W. State Rd. 38, Sheridan, IN 46069.
