Shirley Ann O'Neil

On Sunday December 22, 2019, Shirley Ann O’Neil joined her heavenly father after 71 years on earth.

She was a devout Christian and member of New Fellowship Family Church. She was the daughter of “Stag” and “Dolly” Stegemiller, and sister to “Babe” Stegemiller who preceded her in death.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband, George Thomas O’Neil Jr., of 49 years; daughter, Georgeanna O’Neil; granddaughter, Aleiyah O’Neil; and cousin Marilyn Heavenridge- Brown (Paul).

Shirley enjoyed girl scouts, bowling, vanning, bingo, shopping, scrapbooking, and Joyce Meyer conferences. She adored her many cats and dogs over the years.

Shirley was a dedicated IPS Elementary School teacher for 34 years. She taught at multiple schools in the district, the last being Shortridge Middle School. She was a member of I.E.A.,  I.S.T.A. and the N.E.A teacher’s unions.

Visitation for family and friends will take place from 4:00-8:00pm, on Friday, January 3rd at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East. A funeral service will be held 1:00pm, on Saturday, January 4th at New Fellowship Family Church, 9340 E. 38th Street, Indianapolis. She will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
