Shirleen Ewell

May 28, 1950 — April 5, 2023

Indianapolis, Indiana

Shirleen Ewell daughter of John David Ewell and Edna (Ewell) Winston was born May 28, 1950, at General Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. Shirleen attended Indianapolis Public School #41 and Crispus Attucks High School. Shirleen was a faithful believer of Jesus Christ. Shirleen was formerly married to James Quarles. Shirleen was a dearly devoted daughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend to many who loved her. Shirleen will always be remembered for her Mom’s Mabley heavy voice, and her passion for life especially when she was around her family and friends.
A survivor of cancer, Shirleen will be remembered for her strength and courage during her battle with cancer and many other illnesses. Shirleen was like a second mother to her younger siblings, nieces, nephews, and many other “adopted” children whom she loved dearly. Shirleen always had a caring heart and compassion for others. She was a beautiful person inside and out and will always be remembered.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sisters, Brenda Campbell (Bill), Toni Henderson; brother, John David Ewell, Jr.; nieces, Mia Hindman (Thomas) and Lindsey Manning; nephews, Micheal Myers (Mayette) and John David Ewell III (Desiree). Shirleen also had a host of other nieces and nephews, aunts, cousins and friends that will miss her.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23
