Sheridan Ellen Cartwright

August 6, 1948 — January 25, 2021

Indianapolis, IN

Sheridan Ellen Cartwright of Indianapolis died on January 25, 2021 at the age of 72.

She was born August 6th, 1948 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Elbert and Effie McCleod.

Her career started in 1972 at Texscan, a test equipment company on the eastside of Indianapolis, where she initially worked as an assembler. After a few years, she progressed into a personnel role assisting in employee issues. Having a natural gift of gab, Sheri was selected to move into the sales office to handle “over the transom” and call in orders.

In 1989, Trilithic acquired the assets of Texscan Instruments and began to grow the company. Sheri assumed the role of office manager and set up a system that would support these new growth opportunities in sales. She continued this role until an opportunity came up to manage her own department, XFTP. She hired sales and support people and was able to handle the large growth industry of Satellite TV. She ran a tight ship and was able to capture 100% of Direct TV’s instrumentation business.

Sheri was a very friendly person but was not afraid to express her opinion on issues in real time. Towards the later part of her career, Sheri traveled all over the US, attending shows and stimulating business with customers face to face. She was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan and people learned quickly not to bring up the game if the Packers lost. Sheri retired from Trilithic in January 2017 and started to focus on her personal life and hobbies.

Sheri was a devout Christian and religiously followed the teachings from the Bible, never missing a Sunday morning showing from Dr. Charles Stanley. She also loved the outdoors, planting and gardening. She had two dogs, Molly and Margo, which she treated as if they were her own children. Sheri also donated to many church and animal charities in an effort to help wherever she could.

Most recently Sheri spent a lot of her time with her fiancé, Terry Bush.  They regularly travelled to Terry’s “cabin in the woods” where they enjoyed watching the wildlife, spending time on the lake, listening to music and just enjoying each other’s company. Sheri will be deeply missed.

She loved her children fiercely and unconditionally.  She was a fighter for the good of her family, and you did well to be on the right side of that equation!

She came from a long line of strong women. She weathered many storms and stayed to put the pieces back together again, over and over.

She leaves behind her fiancé Terry Bush; daughter Melissa Maginity (Mike); grandchildren Jessica, Chloe, David, and Ava Maginity; and sister Susan Keller.

She was preceded in death by her son Brian Cartwright.

Private services are being held.  A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date. To join the family virtually for Sheri’s services on Wednesday, February 3 at 2 PM please click here.
