Sherell was born October 8, 1948, in Muncie, Indiana, to Richard and JoAnne Fisher. She graduated from Southside High School and attended Ball State University pursuing a PE degree.
Sherell met and married her soul mate and love Greg Pyle in 1971. After 8 shorts weeks they married and became a family of three with Sherell’s 3 yr old daughter Carey. Together they had two additional children Andy and Mandy. Sherell worked in marketing for Product Specialties in her early twenties before deciding to stay home with her children. Later she kept the books for her and Greg’s cleaning company.
Sherell’s talent, creativity and passion for art was displayed in her fashion, their home, and her many paintings over the years. She enjoyed sharing her passion for art with her grandchildren. Painting was her happy place.
Sherell was a sports enthusiast. She was a fantastic tennis player, she coached soccer, she was a good golfer, and could always be found cheering on her grandchildren and great grandchildren at their sporting events, offering tips and guidance along the way. You could find her cheering on IU basketball, IU football, Caitin Clark and the last couple of years the women’s UConn basketball team.
She loved all types of music and was a great dancer, often pulling Greg onto the dance floor with her. She was proud that two of her grandsons pursued music, often learning and playing some of her favorite songs.
Sherell’s generosity was displayed in her many years of volunteering at the Wheeler Mission downtown, the Wheeler Mission Women and Family Centers, and she helped start the Northview Christian Life food pantry many years ago. Sherell instilled the importance of giving back in her children at a young age. She was passionate in her efforts to help veterans.
Sherell is preceded in death by her father, Richard; mother, JoAnne; niece, Lisa; and in laws, Charles and Mary Ann Pyle.
Sherell leaves behind her husband of 53 years Greg Pyle; her 3 children, Carey Firebaugh, Andy Pyle (Hillary) and Mandy Gomez (Sean); her 7 grandchildren, Amye, Chelsea, Noah, Seth, Ridley, Leo and Mary; and her 7 great-grandchildren, Mason, Graham, Kamden, Reagen, Wyatt, Jackson and Nathan. She also leaves behind her two brothers, sister, sister-in-law, brother-in-law and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
