Sheila May Tompkins

Sheila May Tompkins, 70, of Columbus, Indiana, passed away October 4, 2017. She was born May 29, 1947 in Somerset, KY. Sheila could be described as a mother to all. She welcomed everyone into her home and treated them as if they were her own. She was an avid animal lover and adopted many different animals over the course of her life. Family and friends may remember Sheila’s love for the Christmas Season, from her premature Christmas decorating to her love for classic Christmas carols. Sheila was a simple farm girl, who loved all. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Sheila is survived by her loving husband of 20 years, Doug Tompkins; her son, Troy (Ruth) Moore; her grandchildren, Michael (Alisha) Moore, Paul (Allysson) Moore; her great-grandchildren, Skylynn and Annabelle; her brother, James (Sherry) Murray; and her best friend of 43 years, Sue Giddion.
Sheila was preceded in death by her parents, J.D. and Edna Mae (Sullivan) Murray.
A memorial gathering will be held Wednesday, October 11, 2017 from 10AM to 12PM with a memorial service immediately following at 12PM. All will be held at Flanner Buchanan—Floral Park. Sheila will be laid to rest at Floral Park Cemetery.
