Sheila Marie (Fitzpatrick) Vaught, 74, of Mooresville, IN passed away at home on May 31, 2017. She was surrounded by loved ones throughout her illness and upon her death, as she was throughout her life. Sheila served lovingly as the matriarch of the family upon the loss of her parents, William Fitzpatrick and Mary Anne (Scribner) Fitzpatrick, staying committed to many traditions that began, with love, through them.
She leaves behind her adoring husband, Freddie Vaught, and their daughters Michelle Bruce (Mark), Colleen Holder (Bud), and Denise Kriech (Mike). She is also survived by grandchildren Zachary Bruce (Natalie), Nicholas Bruce (Alexis), Jordan Holder (Brianna), Anna Holder, Joel and Jillian Kriech, as well as great grandchildren Braylon and baby girl Bruce, who will arrive this year. In addition, Sheila is survived by her siblings Terry (Kay), Elizabeth Roland, and Kevin (Pam), as well as nieces, nephews, and godchildren, many of whom she was a second mother to. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother James (survived by Ginger) and her nephew Thomas.
Sheila was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 4, 1943, and was the oldest of 5 siblings. The family was raised in the Catholic church and eventually settled in Indianapolis. Sheila attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and Shortridge High School. She spent decades of her adult life taking care of and loving as her own countless children through her in-home daycare on the westside of Indianapolis. Upon retirement, she and Freddie moved to Mooresville to enjoy their time in a relaxed country setting, giving them another place to enjoy with family and friends. She will be terribly missed by all who knew and loved her.
