Sheila Johanna Freiburger

Sheila Johanna (Holly) Freiburger  was born September 28, 1941 to Jeremiah & Loretta (Borchers) Holly and passed away on March 2, 2018, surrounded by her loved ones in her Carmel home after years of heroically battling Parkinson’s Disease.  Sheila was born and raised alongside her 7 siblings in Fort Wayne, IN where she was a graduate of Central Catholic High School.  Sheila married the love of her life, David Joseph Freiburger, and the two immediately began fulfilling their dream of having a big family.  They settled in Carmel, IN where they raised their nine children.   She was a woman deeply in love with her Catholic faith and was very active in her church at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish where Sheila and David were one of the earliest parish families. Sheila spent her life selflessly devoted to her family.  Nothing brought her more happiness.  She brought immense joy not only to her family, but to all those in her life. She had a way of impacting the lives of everyone she came in contact with and making them feel uniquely special and loved.  Her sassy sense of humor, physical and inner strength, nurturing touch, and compassion to all those in her life will be deeply missed.

Sheila is survived by her nine children, Lisa (Robert) Meiners, Laura Doster, Linda (Fred) Lehmann, Jeff Freiburger, Jane (Jim) Walker, Sara (Mark) Phillips, Susan (John) Schuh, Sandy (Terry) O’Neill, and Andrew (Amber) Freiburger, sisters Mary Shultz (Gerry Jones), Kay (Edward) Stark and brothers Reverend Dennis Holly and Daniel (Charlene) Holly, sister-in-law Sally Holly, brother-in-law Ike Hullinger, 36 grand children and 9 great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Freiburger, her parents Jeremiah & Loretta Holly, sisters Sister Patricia Holly, Margaret “Peg” Hullinger, brother Michael Holly, and brother-in-law Jim Shultz.

Visitation will be held from 4:00pm – 8:00pm Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Flanner Buchanan – Carmel, 325 East Carmel Drive, Carmel, IN.  Funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 14596 Oak Ridge Road, Carmel, IN 46032 on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., with burial to follow at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, 9001 Haverstick Road, Indianapolis, IN.
