Beloved Mother and Grandmother, Sharon Leah (Bigler) Cachules
Sharon Leah Cachules, 79, of Carmel, Indiana, died peacefully on Saturday, July 21, after a courageous 6-year battle with leukemia. She was surrounded by family and love at the time of her passing.
Sharon was born in Peru, Indiana, on June 28, 1939, to Ida and Howard Bigler, the first of four children. After graduating from Marion High School, she went to work in an office at a local business, and there she met Nick Cachules, who became the love of her life. Sharon and Nick were married at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Indianapolis in 1962. They enjoyed 25 years of marriage before Nick’s death from a terminal illness in 1988. After this heartbreaking loss, Sharon courageously made sure that her children were supported by securing a real estate license and starting a new career.
Sharon was a real estate agent in Carmel with Remax Ability Plus for 22 years, and in her retirement enjoyed working at a local boutique and volunteering in the community. She loved travel, fashion, decorating, and spoiling her children and grandchildren with thoughtful surprises. She was also the most amazing card and Scrabble player and in recent years had participated in regular matches with friends who knew her as an extremely fun and clever opponent.
Above all, Sharon loved her family, and this translated not only to her children and seven grandchildren, but to those who came before her. Deeply interested in genealogy, she researched both sides of her ancestry and Nick’s as well, and was a fount of family stories and knowledge. She loved keeping track of her relatives and friends and always looked for ways to be helpful.
The memory of Sharon’s joyful, loving spirit will be forever cherished by those who survive her passing: her children, Stephanie (Dan) Coapstick of Frankfort, Indiana; Jim (Tina) Cachules of Bainbridge Island, Washington; Stacy Cachules (Matt) Kleinert of Indianapolis, Indiana; and her grandchildren, Jessie, Doug, and Mitch Coapstick; Nic and Nila Cachules; and Jack and Henry Kleinert. She is also survived by three siblings, Michael Bigler, Sally Weist, and Sue Hohenberger, and many extended family members and friends.
Memorial contributions can be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, or the Primelife Senior Enrichment Center.
