Sharon Louise Brandt, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2021. Born on March 7, 1931 in Mt. Vernon, Indiana to Judge Paul A. Pfister and Mary (Given) Pfister, the young family soon relocated to Indianapolis, where she spent most of her life.
Sharon graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1948. As a voice major at Butler University, her beauty and exceptional singing talents were quickly noticed. Sharon had a successful career as a professional singer, including performing with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra as a featured soloist.
A woman of strong faith, church involvement played a major role in her life. She continued to share her gift, singing in the church choir, often as a soloist, as well as participating in social groups and committees. It was at Northminster Presbyterian Church, where she met her husband-to-be, Herman Brandt. They were married for over 58 years and raised their family together, most of that time in Indianapolis.
In the years that followed, Sharon’s dedication was to home and family. Nothing meant more to Sharon than family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Sharon’s zest for life and passion for people endeared her to many and she was loved by all who knew her. She treated everyone like family.
Sharon loved to decorate and entertain, from casual summer barbecues by the pool to her annual Christmas Eve Open House. She had a way of making even the simplest, most ordinary day feel like a special occasion.
Extremely proud of her Indiana roots, Sharon was a huge fan of the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, and the Butler Bulldogs. Even at the age of 89, she would don her team gear on game day, ready to cheer them on, win or lose. She was so much fun. Our beautiful, loving Sharon, Mom, Grammy will be forever missed and always in our hearts.
She is survived by her loving husband, Herman Brandt; son, Dr. Randall Brandt (Mary Beth); daughters, Lisa John (Jay), Paula Elliott (Jeff), Kristen Miller (Don Perkins); grandsons, Tyler and Trevor John, Evan, Chase and Ben Elliott, Daniel Miller, Mac and Sam Perkins. Preceded in death by her parents, Judge Paul A. Pfister, Mary L. Pfister and brother, David Pfister.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date when conditions permit. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sharon’s memory to the American Stroke Association by clicking HERE.
