Sharon Kay Sumner Fields, 80, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on November 18th, 2022.
Sharon was born on October 5, 1942, to Martha Sumner (Altmeyer) and Harry Roscoe Sumner in Indianapolis, Indiana. She moved to Cincinnati, Ohio as a young child and remained there graduating from Norwood High School, marrying her best friend and husband of 62 years, Charles Glen Fields. They raised 3 children, Kimberly Fields, Traci Fields and Chuck Fields (Dawn). In 1984 the family moved back to Indianapolis.
Sharon worked as an Executive Secretary for IBM systems retiring after 20 years.
During retirement, when Sharon was not traveling with her husband, or spending time with her family, she could be found shopping at Macy’s, playing the slot machines at the casinos, competing with friends and family on word games, going to the movie theaters for the latest action-packed thrillers or researching the family’s genealogy.
Sharon enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren: Sean Donovan (Kimberly), Johnathen Fields, Matthew Remmel (Aria), Stephen Remmel, Collin Fields; and her great grandchildren: Isla Donovan, Finn Donovan and Everett Remmel.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents (Martha and Harry Sumner), her stepfather (Paul Rose), her brother (Ronald Sumner), and daughter (Traci).
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022, from 10am-11am, with a memorial service immediately following at 11am, at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229. A Celebration of Life service will be held for family and friends at the Cincinnati Observatory – 3489 Observatory Pl, Cincinnati, OH 45208, from 3-5pm on Saturday, November 26, 2022. In lieu of flowers, the family requests for donations to be made to the Leukemia Foundation.
