Sharon Ann Kern

Arlington, TX

Sharon, a gifted artist and active community volunteer, grew up in Madison, WI. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in art from the University of Wisconsin, which she put to use as a professional potter, talented card maker, scrap booker, painter, and avid knitter. She was an integral member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Hurst where she supported the food ministries for AIDS Outreach Center and 4Saints Episcopal Food Pantry. She supervised and stocked the Little Free Library and initiated and supported the Prayer Shawl Ministry.
A life long Girl Scout, Sharon, gave back to the organization as an adult volunteer and worked as a professional staff member in three councils. She retired from Circle T Girl Scouts in Fort Worth in 2006 as their Training Director. She earned the highest awards in Girl Scouting – as a girl, the Curved Bar, and as an adult the Honor Pin and the Thanks Badge.

Sharon is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Rick; their children, Brian Kern of Carrollton and Erin Gutierrez of Frisco; and her siblings JoEllin, Leonard and TJ Sawicki. The Kerns also cherish their children’s spouses and their seven much loved and precious grandchildren.

The memorial service will be at 3:30 pm, Friday December 15, 2017 at St. Luke’s in the Meadow Episcopal Church, 4301 Meadowbrook Drive, Fort Worth, TX 76103. A reception of remembrance will follow the service.
