Sharon And Darrell Skaggs

Sharon Joann Skaggs, of Avon Park, Florida, passed away and joined her husband in heaven on June 9, 2023, at the age of 80. Darrell Lee Skaggs, born on November 19, 1942, passed away on November 7, 2022, at the age of 79. Sharon was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on November 14, 1942. She was the daughter of Lloyd Oppegard and Herlorise Solien.

Sharon worked with General Motors for over 20 years, and Darrell worked there too in the tool and dye department for almost 25 years before they both retired at the age of 50. They spent their next 30 years of their retirement together on adventures and enjoying each other’s company. Sharon also enjoyed going to the casino and playing bingo and she really loved watching the Indiana Pacers. Darrell had also served our country honorably as a soldier for The United States Marine Corps.
Sharon was with her husband, Darrell Skaggs, for over 47 years, until his passing. She and Darrell had relocated together from Indiana to Florida, along with another couple many years ago, as they all were snowbirds because of the warm weather.

Sharon was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerry K. Barber, second husband, Darrell Skaggs; her parents; and granddaughter, Dusty Patterson.
Sharon leaves behind her two children, Sherry Croley and Jerry Barber; grandchildren, Brandon Barber, Cody Barber, Tiffany Croley, and Eric Barber; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Coy, Dayton Patterson, Jace Patterson, Lyric Ladd, Conner Barber, Chance Barber, Colin Barber, Lilly Barber, Hadley Barber, and Jaxon Barber; and one great-great grandchild, Eileigh Coy.

A memorial gathering for both Sharon and Darrell will be held from 5p-7p, Friday, June 23, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East: 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229, with a memorial service immediately following at 7pm.
