Selma J. Fisher
Mrs. Selma Jean (Leep) Fisher, age 85, of Indianapolis, Indiana, entered this life on July 7, 1931, in Madison, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late Raymond and Alice (Dowell) Leep Holwager. She was a 1949 graduate of Dupont High School. On June 9, 1956 she was united in marriage to Roy H. Fisher in Indianapolis. This union was blessed with two daughters, Carolyn and Luanne. Selma was employed with Indianapolis Public Schools, beginning in 1973 at T.C. Howe High School, and spending several years downtown in the Public Relations Department, and later the Education Foundation, retiring in 1996.
She loved spending time with her family and attended as many of her grandchildren’s games, concerts and other events as possible. She enjoyed reading, sewing, shopping, home decorating, acting, traveling, playing euchre, visiting casinos, and chatting with friends and neighbors on her front porch. Selma died on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Community Hospital East.
Selma was preceded in death by her husband Roy H. Fisher (died 11/04/2012); father Raymond Leep (died 06/21/1951), mother Alice L. (Dowell) Leep Holwager (died 09/04/1997); and her brother William C. Leep (died 06/21/2016).
Selma will be missed by her children, Carolyn (Jesse Wayne III) Jeffries of Greenwood, and Luanne (Charles II) Fairchild of Indianapolis; her sister Nina Geisler of Madison, brother Graham (Bud) Leep of Scottsburg, half-brother Doug Holwager, and sister-in-law Vivian Fisher of Mt. Hermon, Kentucky; her grandchildren, Jacob Jeffries, Amanda Jeffries (Rachel Frieszell), Nathanial (Chelsea) Jeffries, Chase (Laura) Fairchild, Zachary Fairchild, Nicholas (Olivia) Fairchild and Ethan Fairchild; her great-grandchildren, Harper and Harrison Jeffries, and Lila, Charlie and Lewis Fairchild; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Flanner and Buchanan-Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229. Entombment in Washington Park East Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 12:00 PM until the service time at the funeral home.
