Sarah L. Ray

Indianapolis, Indiana

Sarah Louise Ray was born to Mary Catherine and Joseph C. Ray Sr. in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was the twelfth of thirteen children.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers William (infant) and Joseph C. Jr.; three sisters – Gladys (infant) Annette Boyd, Linda Ray, and daughter Erin.

Sarah’s education started at St. Rita Catholic grade school, and she graduated from Bishop Chatard High School. Later she attended IUPU where she received an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts and Interior Design. During this time she pledged AKA sorority.

Sarah worked several jobs in her employment career, starting with Wm. H. Block Co. in retail and gift wrap, Indiana Insurance Co. as a Claims Adjuster, She also worked for Kraft Foods, and Kroger Bakery as a cake decorator. She was presently employed at UPS as a Responder in presort. At this time she went back to school to receive her Bachelor’s Degree from Marian University.

Sarah’s hobbies were sewing (curtains, slipcovers, wedding gowns, christening dresses) cooking, and interior design. Sarah loved baking and decorating cakes for all occasions. She was an avid movie goer.

Sarah is survived by sisters, Mary Agnes Brown and Rose Covington, brothers: James B, John M, Charles T, Francis A, Peter O. Ray and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
