Sara Diane Merkel

Sara Diane Merkel passed peacefully from this life into eternity on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, after a lengthy and courageous battle with leukemia.

Sara was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on the 8^th of May, 1969. At the age of 30 she moved to Westfield, Indiana, where she has resided for the past eighteen years. It was there that she received her Associate’s Degree as a paralegal, and was employed by Liberty Mutual in Carmel, Indiana.

Sara loved her job along with her many hobbies, consisting of gardening and landscaping, hosting get-togethers, concerts, traveling, and baking. She will be remembered as a strong woman with a “can-do” attitude. Sara loved life tremendously which kept her going, and she lived for her three sons.

Survivors include her sons: Nick Garrity, and Mason and Milo Merkel; her precious dog, Cash; Mother, Diane Paynter; father, Craig Paynter; Brothers: Brian, Mark, and Eric Paynter; Sisters: Pam (Jack) Schroeder and Gwen (Dan) Christel; an Aunt and Uncle, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many tremendous friends and neighbors.

Visitation will be held from 12:00pm until 2:00pm on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Flanner Buchanan- Washington Park North, 2706 Kessler Blvd. West Drive, Indianapolis, Indiana. Funeral Service will follow visitation at 2:00pm.
