Sandra Lee Whitten

Sandra Lee (Jacobs) Whitten, daughter of Frank and Frances Jacobs, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025, surrounded by family, at the age of 83. Born on January 23, 1941. She is one of 7 children (Clayton, Von, Valerie, Edwin, Dale, and Dennis). Sandra lived a life marked by creativity, generosity, and love for her family.

Sandra is survived by her three children: Kim Aaron (husband Bashir Hajissa), Daniel Broadstreet (wife Ladonna Broadstreet), and Diane "Disey" Hummeid. She was a devoted grandmother to 13 grandchildren: Brendan Broadstreet (wife Dawn Broadstreet), Hadea Hummeid (husband Ahmed Raslan), Noah Broadstreet, Hassan Hummeid (wife Indah Hummeid), Khaleel Hummeid, Abduljabbar Hummeid (wife Jiabao Liu), Lameese Hajissa, Azideen Hajissa, Daniel Broadstreet, Joanne Rhodes, Ismaeel Hummeid (wife Carla), Aziza Hummeid, and Aya Hajissa. She is a great-grandmother to 20 great-grandchildren, Mckynse, Aaliyah, Logan, Scarlett, Hayze, Alex, Shayne, Karmyn, Jaden, Forge, Olivia, Audrey, Silvia, Ameera, Ameena, Laila, Hussein, Khalilah, Ibraheem, and Abdulaziz.

Sandra was a talented seamstress whose work touched countless lives. She lovingly crafted pillows, blankets, and hats that she donated to IU West Hospital to provide comfort to cancer patients. Her dedication to this cause earned her the endearing nickname "hat lady," a testament to her selflessness and compassion.

Sandra's legacy of kindness and creativity will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her. May her memory bring comfort and inspiration to those she leaves behind.
