Sandra K. Warstler (Sandy), of Indianapolis, passed away on March 15, 2025. She was born on October 20,1936 in Cleveland, OH to Paul and Thelma Schroeder. Sandy and her family relocated to Ft. Wayne Indiana where she was a graduate of Fort Wayne North High School in 1954. Sandy earned both her undergraduate and master’s degrees from Indiana University in Comparative Literature. After completing her degrees, Sandy taught World Literature at North Central High School for 8 years and World Literature and Composition at IUPUI for 7 years. For her next adventure in life, Sandy obtained her real estate license and joined the F.C. Tucker Company as a sales agent in 1976 in their Carmel office. Four years later she was instrumental in the creation of the F.C Tucker Relocation Department. Sandy led the relocation department for 32 years until her retirement in 2013. Sandy believed in building long term relationships with clients through dedicated, professional services backed by the number one real estate company in Indiana. She received the Tucker Senior Award in 2004, the highest honor given being nominated by her peers. She received national recognition throughout her career including receiving the Distinguished Service Award in 2001 by the Employee Relocation Council. At that time, she was one of only 15 people who had ever received this designation. Sandy was an avid supporter of Indianapolis and its growth and assisted with the relocation of multiple large corporations moving to their new homes in Indiana.
Sandy married the love of her life Gary Warstler in 1984 (who precedes her in death). She and Gary enjoyed living in their dream home on the water as well as skiing, boating, and traveling with family and friends. She and Gary traveled to destinations around the world but held closest to their hearts Vanderbilt Beach Florida and Fraser Colorado. Sandy was fortunate to have a tight nit group of friends that went on many adventures together building lifelong memories whether riding horses at a dude ranch, white water river rafting, or just enjoying the views in Fraser Colorado. She enjoyed beautiful gardens and anything that included orchids. Sandy loved animals Purple Martin’s, Hummingbirds, and most especially her five Golden Retrievers over the years.
Sandy is survived by her children Melissa (Pat) Roberts, and Susie (Jeff) Ehman, Rob (Patty) Warstler, Jane (Jeff) Castell, Jim Warstler; and 8 grandchildren: Kylie, Austin, Kassandra, Jack, Sam, Joe, Olivia, Emily.
The family would like to sincerely thank Paradigm Hospice and all employees and staff of Sunrise on Old Meridian for their exceptional care and support during her time with them. A special thank you to the 3rd floor REM Team for welcoming her as family and showing her so much love and compassion.
Memorial contributions in Sandy’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (https://donorservices.alz.org) or to honor her love of animals, the Hamilton County Humane Society (https://www.hamiltonhumane.com).
