Sandy completed her LPN nursing degree in 1974. She continued in nursing to specialize in the neonatal special care nursery at Wishard. Sandy was a foster parent for Lutheran Child and Family Services, where she cared for 104 foster children. Sandy also worked with Saint Elizabeth’s Home for Unwed Mothers, teaching them the skills needed to care for their own children.
Sandy had 4 children of her own, Barbara (Jay) Beasley, William (Shelly) Bopp, Teresa (Tim) Newbold, Forrest (Jennifer) Bopp; and is also survived by 15 grandchildren, Dustin, James, Cameron, Sara, Heather, Kasey, Sarah, Joshua, Jesse, Jessica, Stephanie, Timothy, Andrew, Anthony and Samantha; 20 great grandchildren, Aubrey, Jordan, Tristan, Elijah, Sojourn, Adia, Toviah, Asher, Ean, Asa, Zion, Delilah, Sebastian, Josephine, Theodore, Christopher, Teagan, Marcus, Rheilla, and Isabelle; brother-in-law, Ben Johnston; nephew, Michael; and nieces, Deborah and Stacey. She was preceded in death by her mother, Pauline Tice; father, Leroy Tice; sister, Diane Johnston; and her husbands, William (Sonny) Wigal and Kenneth Bopp.
A funeral service will be 2pm on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Flanner Buchanan- Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington Street, with visitation from 11:00am-2:00pm.
