Sandra “Sandie” Rae (Lang) Moore, 79, of Markleville, Indiana passed away at home on December 12, 2021. She was born on May 18, 1942, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Raymond and Helen (Gray) Lang, who preceded her in death.
She married Richard “Dick” Franklin Moore on May 24, 1964, and had celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary prior to Richard’s passing in 2017. Richard and Sandra were avid travelers and had visited all 50 states, as well as The Bahamas, Canada, Mexico, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Ireland, and Northern Ireland.
Sandra is survived by her two children: Son, Gregory Moore and wife, Kelly (Lacy) Moore, and Daughter, Teresa (Moore) DeForge and husband, Dennis DeForge.
Sandra is also survived by six grandchildren; James Wheeler, Brandon Wheeler, Kassandra (Moore) McCampbell (husband, Ian McCampbell), Alexandra (Moore) Davidson (husband, Taylor Davidson), Nicholas Moore, and Andrew Moore (fiancé, Mariah Noble), and three great-grandchildren; Kailyn Wheeler, Brody Wheeler, and Grayson Wheeler.
Sandra was a 1960 graduate of North Central High School in Indianapolis and briefly attended Indiana University as a nursing student. She was a stay-at-home Mom for much of Gregory and Teresa’s childhood before taking on work first as an accountant at a car dealership in Elkhart, Indiana and then owning her own business, Log House Engraving & Trophies, in Goshen, Indiana for over twenty years. Sandra worked for several companies in the student travel industry as a Tour Director, traveling with various student and youth school groups to a multitude of domestic and international destinations before retiring in 2016, after 27 years.
Sandra along with her husband, Richard, were longtime camping enthusiasts and active members of the Winnebago International Travelers club for nearly 30 years with one of Sandra’s highlights serving as a driving instructor for other female members of the club.
Sandra resided in Indianapolis and Carmel, Indiana for nearly 28 years before spending 32 years in Elkhart & Goshen, Indiana, and 16 years in Winter Haven, Florida; eventually returning to Indiana in 2018 to live with Gregory and Kelly.
Final arrangements are through Flanner Buchanan – Memorial Park with graveside interment services taking place at 11am on May 24, 2022, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Indianapolis.
