Sandra Kay Thomas

Mrs. Sandra K. Thomas, daughter of the late James F. Minter and Edythe B. Sutton was born on May 31, 1940, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
She attended Indianapolis Public Schools and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School. There she was a member of the cheerleading squad that cheered the 1955 basketball team to the State Championship. The team became the first all-black State Champions in the nation.
After graduating high school, she had a wonderful career at Central State Hospital. Following retirement she launched Hoosier Catering, the family business, which became her passion. Serving the community and sharing her love of cooking made her a popular favorite at The Hoosier Dome and Lucas Oil Stadium.
Sandra enjoyed traveling with friends and family, word search puzzles and shopping. She was an avid fan of the Indy 500, the Colts, Pacers and IU Basketball. She joined Ebenezer Baptist Church in 1977 where she was a loyal, active member and Deaconess.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Randall Thomas, Sr. three children, James R. Kendrick Jr., Pamela D. Kendrick (Steve), Randall Thomas Jr. (Lana), nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be on Saturday, October 31 from 9-12 PM at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Services are private, but will be livestreamed at 12 PM at http://bit.ly/Thomasfuneral .
