Sandra K. “Sandy” Munson, 79, of Indianapolis, passed away in her home on Wednesday, August 29, 2018. She was born in Connersville, Indiana to Donald and Gertrude Smith on December 8, 1938.
Sandy was a feisty woman with a loveable disposition who received great joy from taking care of people. She was the caretaker of her family, friends and all those who’s path crossed hers. For most of her adult life, Sandy was employed through the Lawrence Township School Systems in the cafeteria department, spending the majority of her career at Lawrence North High School as a cafeteria cashier. Sandy was a friend and cherished co-worker to many. She loved her job and the kids she served.
Sandy enjoyed making ceramics, playing cards, traveling and spending time watching The Young and the Restless and the Hallmark channel.
Most of all, Sandy loved her family. Sandy was married to Ronnie Crumbo, her high school sweetheart in 1957. They were married for 15 years and had three children Tami, Connie and Bill. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. As a grandmother, Sandy spent whatever time was asked of her, caring for her grandchildren and they all knew when she told them to do something, she meant business. She didn’t put up with any “shenanigans” from any of them.
In 1974 Sandy remarried to Albert “Al” Munson. They loved to travel with friends, play cards and attend dinner dances. Al fell ill later in their marriage and in true Sandy fashion, she cared for him until his passing in 2005.
Over the past several years, Sandy made frequent trips to Greenville, AL to visit her brother Bill. They enjoyed each-others company shopping, eating out and visiting the family farm during those trips.
Sandy was a strong-willed woman who was determined to do things her way, fighting until her last breath when the Good Lord took her home to heaven. She will be missed by all who love her and had the pleasure of knowing her.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Gertrude (Lyster) Smith; Her husband Albert “Al” Munson, and her life-time friend Ronald “Ronnie” Crumbo.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her devoted children, Tamera Weber of Lawrence, Connie Fields (Tim Fields) of Columbus and William Crumbo of Noblesville. Surviving her also is her beloved brother William “Bill” H. Smith of Greenville, AL
