Sammy Lee Dill

Sammy L. Dill 71 of Speedway, IN passed away March 02, 2017. Sam was born in McKenzie, TN to Clyde and Margaret (Smith) Dill in 1945. Sam and his childhood sweetheart Sandy were married for 51 years. They have lived in Speedway for 49 years where they raised their two daughters. Sam retired from General Motors in 2000 after 35 years. Sam was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Kelly and Ben Dill. Sam and Sandy enjoyed camping and traveling in their motorhome. Sam’s favorite past time was fishing and watching Judge Judy with his grandson. Sam’s children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was always quick with a joke and anyone that had the pleasure of meeting him knew he was an amazing person, friend, husband, father and grandfather. Sam is survived by his loving wife Sandy of 51 years, daughters; Chris (Dave) Derbyshire, Kim (Mike) Dobbs, 4 grandchildren; David and Jake Derbyshire and Morgan and Tony Dobbs and 1 great-granddaughter; Kailynn Derbyshire his brother Dan (Beverly) Dill and sister; Barbara Shiney brother in law Jim (Joyce) Walden sister in law Margie Dill. A Celebration of Life Memorial Visitation will be held Thursday March 09, 2017 at Flanner and Buchanan-Speedway from 4 to 8 pm.
