Sammie Dale Mudd

Sammie “Sam” Mudd 76 of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away January 14, 2023. He was born in Christian County, Kentucky on August 29, 1946. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Maxwell Mudd and Nina Faye (Harrell) Beaty, his brother Tony Maxwell Mudd and grandchild Eli Schrage. Sam was a Pipefitter for 37 years before retiring from Rolls Royce Corporation. He was a 1964 Graduate of Decatur Central High School and spent 3 years in the Indiana Army National Guard. He had a variety of interests which included watching NASCAR, playing and watching golf, watching the Indianapolis Colts, playing and building guitars, and going to car shows with his 1967 Chevy Camaro. He most enjoyed spending time with his family and his 2 dogs, Leah and Buddy. Sam was loved and will be missed by so many. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Cathy Sue (Reynolds) Mudd, his children, Shari (Brian) Moore, Angela (Victor) Wurtzler, Michelle (Brian) Schrage, Terry (Missy) Phillips, twelve grandchildren, Brianna and Bailey Moore, Tiffany and Rich Schuck, Jessica (Chad) Fisher, Jay, Molly and Mallory Detmer, Connor, Clayton and Brinley Schrage, four great grandchildren, his sister, Patty Cummings, three nieces, one nephew, many cousins and a host of friends. Services for Sam will be held on Wednesday January 25, 2023, 2:00pm at Flanner Buchanan Decatur Township with visitation there from 12:00pm. Memorial contributions may be directed to IndyHumane.
