Ryan was born on December 10, 1987 to his parents, Edward and Donna Weisberger at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. He lived in Zionsville, Indiana at the time of his death on August 28, 2017. He was 29 years old.
As a child, he loved sports, his friends, family and his dogs, Reggie and Tabby. He had found Tabby as a stray and cajoled us into making her a part of our family.
Later in childhood, he especially loved to swim. His first swim coach at the Indianapolis Athletic Club spotted his potential and he became a competitive swimmer. His freshman year in high school he called his brother Jason to tell him he had broken his school record in the backstroke.
He had a natural lag to his golf swing before age 5 and later became a very good golfer. He was a varsity athlete in swimming, golf and tennis at Pike High School. He was a strong young man.
He attended New Augusta Elementary and Middle School and graduated from Pike High School in 2006. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University in 2014.
Later in high school he developed an interest in music. He began to play the piano with his grandfather, Donovan Chamberlin. At his first piano recital, he played music that he composed and not the usual “Moonlight Sonata”. His passion for music and composing blossomed and he took a leave from college to found a group, “Kid Savant” with John Sullivan. He was the vocalist and keyboardist. He composed a number of pieces of music. They performed mainly in New York City but also at the South by Southwest festival, California and Indiana.
He returned to Indiana to finish his degree. He did not want to “work in an office” and enrolled in trucking school finishing with a Red Hat for best performance. He drove an “eighteen-wheeler” first from Indiana to Alabama, then from here to Chicago.
Shortly after beginning his driving career, he met the love of his life, Alesha, and they planned to marry October of this year.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his fiancée, Alesha Arrick; his parents, Ed and Donna; siblings, Paul (Angie) Weisberger, Jason (Jenni) Weisberger, Jennifer (Gregory) Lafiura; grandfather, Donovan L. Chamberlin; aunt, Marcy (Tom) Sullivan; uncle, Michael (Lib) Chamberlin, and 5 nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 3 pm until 6 p.m. A memorial gathering will follow at 6 p.m. He will be laid to rest at Old Pleasant Hill Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Foundation for Suicide Prevention – Ryan Weisberger Memorial Fund, 120 Wall Street, 29th Floor New York, New York 10005.
