Ruth Wyonne Wicks

Ruth Wyonne Wicks, 82, passed away peacefully at her home with her son, John, at her side on November 9, 2022.

She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on March 2, 1940, to Paul and Iva Hickman.

Ruth worked at a Five and Dime while she went to school to learn data entry as a key punch operator. She then went to work as an administrative assistant for Stokely Van Kamp / Quaker for 42 years and retired in 1997.
After retiring Ruth became heavy involved in ancestry and genealogy and was a major contributor to the Find A Grave website entering at last count over 99,800 entries and managing well over 100,000.

She is survived by her son, John Hickman; 4 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren; and kitty cat, Skittles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Wicks; parents; and siblings, Rose Dunn and Jerry Hickman.

Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 13, 2022, at Flanner Buchanan – Memorial Park, 9350 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229 with burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until time of service.
