Ruth Delia (Chapman) Walker, 97, of Greenfield IN, born De Pere, Wisconsin April 9th, 1927, passed February 4th, 2025.
She was preceded by her beloved husband, Lon E. Walker, two sisters, Francis & Ethel, two brothers, Collins & Roy, two grandsons David (Buddy) Reeves, David Allen Thomas, and Great-Grandson Anthony R. Harlin, Jr.. Survivors are her three daughters, Geraldine Hudelson, Margaret (Bob) Fuquay, and Patricia Mulry-Shaffer; Grandchildren David Reeves (Linda) Cheri Bauder (John), Rondald D. Hudelson (Tammy), Lori L. Gutierrez, Davina Reeves, Richard L. Thomas Jr., Deborah A. Butler (Matt), Amy Gooding (Brad) and Denise Luttrell (John Cornejo), 20 great-great grandchildren, one great-great-great grandchild, many nieces and nephews and their families, throughout the United States.
She also leaves behind many wonderful friends of the Mt Lebanon Community Church in Greenfield, where she faithfully played organ until her health prevented it, also many friends and associates as a volunteer for 23 years in the Rehabilitation Department at Hancock Regional Hospital and enjoyed working with the Administration Department and was a member of the hospitals Legacy Foundation.
Ruth was a devout member of Mt. Lebanon Community Church where she served as treasurer for some years, she and her husband had enjoyed all activities possible, and when her health would not allow her to sit playing the organ…….On-line church and communion was always observed at home.
Ruth requested that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery Association (2549 S. Meridian Rd. Greenfield, IN 46140) in her name. Many of the outreach programs and cemetery were of great importance to her and she expressed previous gratitude for those considerations when making her wishes known while making her final plans.
Thank you all for your kindness and friendships to a truly wonderful lady. She was an example of charity and strength, wisdom and understanding.
Family is requested to be at the Flanner & Buchanan East Washington Park East Mortuary, at the east side entrance, at 12pm on February 15th for 1 hour of family support.
Visitors are welcome from 1pm until 4pm, at which time a short service will be held and anyone who wishes to speak about her can advise the family and say a few words before the services begin. At the conclusion of the service, the Lords Prayer will be sung by her husband, Lon, as recorded in a church service a few years before he passed away.
We, the daughters of Ruth, appreciate all the wonderful people that were friends, and ask that a period of mourning be observed before reaching out to them. They would also like to acknowledge the outstanding services that the Flanner & Buchanan staff has provided for us.
