Ruth Helen Mckern

Ruth Helen McKern, 87, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away February 16, 2020. She was born April 22, 1932 in New Washington, Indiana to George and Ruth.

Ruth liked to live a simple life, where her family was the center of her world; she was a true homemaker. She enjoyed the little things in life like shopping and getting her hair done often, affectionately earning the nickname “Poodle” from her loved ones. She met the love of her life, Artie McKern, through family. The pair married December 1, 1963. They spent 23 beautiful years together and remained deeply in love at the time of Artie’s pasing in late 1986. Ruth’s passing leaves an empty space in the hearts of those who were blessed enough to meet her; she was truly one of a kind.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Ruth; husband, Artie; son, William; brother, Gale. Surviving to cherish her memory are children Deborah Miller, Pam (Rodney) Owens, Donna (Rick) Clark, Robert (Rhonda) Edlin; sister, Carla; numerous loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family members who cherished her deeply.

All are welcome to visit Saturday, February 22 from 10-2 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Floral Park, 425 N. Holt Road, Indianapolis, IN 46222. Funeral services will take place at 2 PM. Ruth will be laid to rest at Floral Park Cemetery immediately following services.
