Russell “Russ” Wayne Lewis
57, of New Palestine, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on October 7th, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Russ was born in Beech Grove, IN on April 21st, 1960 to parents, Robert E. and Rosalie (Scifres) Lewis. He was a 1978 graduate of Warren Central High School. During his career, Russ worked for over 26 years at Sam’s Club, working his way up in management. He enjoyed sports – especially the New York Yankees, Indianapolis Colts, Purdue basketball, and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Russ loved to cook, collect ball cards, travel, and listen to music. He also very much enjoyed spending time with his beloved family, especially his grandkids, who referred to him as “Pepaw”.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Anita L. (True) Lewis; daughters Amanda “Mandi” Kostroski (Kyle), Jessica Curtis (Dustin), Ashley Ailes (David), and Kayla Lewis (Aaron Gill); grandchildren Isabella, Madelyn, Mason, Dawson, and Mila; mother Rosalie Lewis; brother Robert “Randy” Lewis (Denise); sister Rhonda Price (Marc); father-in-law and mother-in-law Lloyd and Leona True; as well as many other loving family members and friends. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. Russ was preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Lewis.
Friends may gather from 4pm until 8pm on Thursday, October 12th, 2017 at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East, located at 10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46229, where funeral service will be held at 10am on Friday, October 13th. Burial will follow the service at Washington Park East Cemetery.
